Miscellaneous Errata

Hide / Reveal The Links for easier reading.

These will be here only fleetingly until we can fix em! Got an oddity or error to point out? Email us about it!

Normally John sleeps on the other side of the bed!

In 1981, Elly tells Connie that Phil lives at 271 Rue Des Feves. In the 2010 strip added to the storyline, Connie arrives at 114 Rue Des Feves. Did she go to the wrong address?

Anne refers to Steve as a child and says that she's raising TWO kids ... yet she had Richard in 2008-2009, making Steve the third "kid".

John's Migrating Cast: it moves from one leg to the other in this strip.

John's Brother: It appears John has a brother and a sister. In this strip, John says he has a sister and a brother when he is telling Michael about his father working in the mine. In strip 6781 John mentions going to Uncle Tony's wedding in Montreal. We never saw these folks in the strip.

Aunt Doreen is mentioned in this strip - maybe we never see her because she's an aggressive hugger and the family's afraid of her?

Seat Belt Issues (What's up with Liz's seat belt here?)

Mrs. Dingle's kids: this strip says she had three but two died of polio and one lives in Ohio. Our Whos' Who section says all three of Agnes' kids are alive and well.

Connie's Divorce - Elly tells Elizabeth that Lawrence's dad divorced Connie and moved back to Brazil, but he was never married and living in Canada with Connie at all. Another reference.

Connie tells Elly she was engaged to Ted. This was never actually the case - Ted only proposed to Connie after she moved to Thunder Bay (she turned him down).

John's Degrees - in this strip, Elly mentions that John has a degree in psychology. We've had some questions about this: John studied science before going into dentistry and took psychology at that time. Here he mentions that he has three degrees. According to Lynn: "For dentistry or medicine, you need a science degree - BS... then your dental degree gives you a DDS. In the meantime, it's possible to get a degree in psychology as well, especially if you don't get into your subject on the first try. My husband had 3 degrees - one was in broadcast technology, the others: BS and DDS."

Twice-run Sundays: Apparently this strip was run twice; maybe the second Sunday went missing en route to the syndicate?

A strip where Sera looks just like Edgar. Here's another. Sera is Edgar's mom, but normally she doesn't look anything like him.

Mystery strips (Strips that we can't find publication dates for. Strips that were replaced by other strips in the books. General strip-related strangeness.)

Instances where we've spelled "Weird" strangely. Or is that WIERD-ly? If you find a WIERD, please tell us.

Description: John grumbles and snarls over the paper when Elly asks him if he had to spank Michael. Surely with a degree in psychology there must have been a better way to handle the boy. During the years of John's degree he mostly studied rats.

Lynn's Notes: May be an error - John has degree in dentistry. Did he also study psychology?

Lynn's Notes: To discipline or not to discipline. When is it time to be angry and when do you "let it ride". My family has always been into the one liners: never pass up an opportunity for wordplay. Never let a pun go unpunished. So, when a slip of the tongue was a slip of judgement, there was always the dilemma: was it funny enough to be given a star rating for genius or was it just plain rude? Instead of being direct with our opinions, we told the truth in jest and more often than not, the result was banishment to the bedroom for an opportunity to think...while the folks (within earshot) discussed the merits of the performance. No wonder both my bro and I were bound for the entertainment business!
